Verona was a prisoner of Grull, who warmed up to Rowan Grey after she brought her lemonade while working out in the fields. As thanks, she gifted Rowan with a Smoke. She had a personal assistant, Reggie, who seemed jealous after Verona complimented Rowan's hair. She later helped Rowan get some Corn from the fields.
She knew of The Baus, and had a strong distaste for him, warning that he was not to be trusted.
She was rescued by Rowan and her friends after they killed the warden and escaped. They brought her back to The Tower of Gray and offered her a job with them.
