The Old Master was the leader of The Monastery of Uthgar. He took an interest in the young Skud Derringer, trying to prompt him to do better in his classes. He later died through unknown means. After this, Skud attempted to use his powers of bone manipulation to resurrect the dead members of the monastery, starting with the Old Master. It was... unsuccessful. The man became an undead skeleton, a monster, whom Skud was foreced to lock away in the treasure room.
Years later, The Tower of Grey travelled to the Monastery in search of Lahni Caplain's missing brother, Lannie. Instead, they found Skud, and "helped him out" with the Old Master problem, by destroying the corpse. They were rewarded with one of the treasures in the treasure room: The Orb.
