The Jokester was the name of a mysterious jester (née clown) working for Copperpot's Amazing Menagerie. Unlike the other members of the circus, the Jokester was not a former ward of the masked vigilante known as The Squirrel-Man. He was just a clown that the circus hired via a want ad. He kidnapped R'Oarc, tickled her a bunch, and then ran off.

As the rest of the Menagerie were going to leave, they noticed that The Jokester was missing from their group. He was tracked to a nearby cave, and R'Oarc's father, T'Chuck, bonked him on the head, knocking him out. He was returned to the circus, who reluctantly agreed to take him back to Farhold.

Later, it was revealed that The Jokester was hired by The Big Top Traveling Circus and Magnificent Menagerie. So, he must have escaped, or was released somehow. He was quickly fired, however, after turning the circus into a shambles. After helping to fix the circus, R'Oarc disappeared, and was later seen with the Jokester, having run off to a nearby clan of Hill Giants. T'Chuck and co went to rescue her, only to find her fine and well. The Jokester ran off, again.

Later still, he turned up again in the attic of a strange mansion in Grimwatch Hollow, a graveyard outside of Farhold. He appeared to be trapped in a kind of mirror dimension, which the party also found themselves trapped in. Although, a dead Aarakocra told the party that this might not be the real Jokester. According to him, he and some frog assassins had given the real Jokester a truth serum, to tell them everything he knew about the party. He was mostly correct, except he got Selene's name wrong, referring to her as "Serena". Then, the Aarakocra said that a different Jokester attacked him, and killed him, or something like that. Either way, the party helped free the Jokester (or the fake Jokester, it's unclear), who then ran away.
