Steve Meloncamp was a friendly Gnoll who lived near Yangahr but grew up in a camp that grew melons, the Melon camp. Hence the name. He had a wife named Cheryl Meloncamp. Steve was the gosh darn nicest guy you will ever meet.

Biography[]

Steve the Gnoll[]

Steve Meloncamp, was raised in the Melon Camp, and, in the custom of all gnolls from that area, took the name of the camp he grew up in. It was there that he met his wife, Cheryl Meloncamp, who had that name even before they were married. They got married. He found himself to be quite the gourmand, enjoying food, both eating it and making it. One day, he left his home, including his lovely wife, (not realizing that she recently became pregnant), and met with a group of adventurers (Rhavar, Temerity Barakas, Telir, and Avram) during the Demon Apocalypse. They were tasked with bringing a power artifact, the Demonomicon, to a man named Fennekin, with the hopes of ending the death and destruction. They sought passage onboard the Chum Guzzler, and are quickly attacked by demons. Steve decides to make a portal to jump away from the attack, and is instead teleported to the bottom of the ocean, where he is killed when the water crushes him to death.

However, his soul is bound to the Demonomicon, as he was still holding it.

Steve and Thom[]

Several months later, Thom the Dragonborn, along with the other Ätlän-tã Fælcons, and Zird the Arcane, took the submarine The Belafonte, down to find Steve's body, to get the Demonomicon. Thom is the one who swims out to get it, purposely damaging Steve's skeletal remains as he takes it. He opens the satchel it is in and touches the book, causing a sort of change...

Thom began to speak in Steve's voice, and echoed elements of Steve's personality. In fact, due to the Demonomicon's transference of the soul, Steve's soul existed inside Thom's mind. The two were, in essence, one.

Steve the Gnollem[]

Steve the Gnollem makes his first appearance at the end of Episode 200 - Battle of the White Spire. The spirit of Steve the Gnoll inhabits a flesh golem made up of the various body parts that Thom the Dragonborn collected in his adventures. He was separated from Thom under unknown circumstances before The Battle Above the Abyss. Thom went to see a man whose details Steve can no longer quite remember and then he woke up in this new body, with the knowledge from the head of Lord Milnor giving him the abilities of an artificer.

Steve has the head of Thokas which is bald with perhaps some mold in the place of hair, and saggy, floppy, and discolored skin. He has the arms of an owl bear and the frog legs of Kind of discolored in many areas. He has the tail of a dragonborn, and in the place of where his penis should be, there is instead the finger that used to belong to one of the guards of Trant Thumble. He has the heart of a minotaur. He still has the voice of Steve the Gnoll.

He has a mountable pet construct named Jerry, which has the head and neck of a bugbear but has mechanical spider legs.

Also Steve can become Nimbus when casting Gaseous Form. Nimbus speaks in a ghostly voice to the party, but cannot talk to others. Nimbus voice is very pleasing to the ears and it has been commented on several times

Trivia[]

  • In an alternate timeline (Tabletop Day 2015 Live Stream Evil campaign), Steve's home of Meloncamp was attacked and Cheryl was killed. This caused Steve to turn evil, adopt the Christian name Evil Stevil, and gain a love of rumbling.
