Story[]
Long Story[]
Daggie Chookers falls to the ground, dead! A creature claws its way out of his stomach, with four legs, sharp teeth, and a mushroom-like head. Pegwing is able to crush the creature with a swing of his sword, but there's nothing to be done about Daggie. Many of his organs are missing, having been used to create the creature. Also missing is Shaw. The party asks Gorman about him, but Gorman doesn't seem to have any memories of Shaw... Beller and Rango are there, too.
Attention turns back to Daggie's body. And also to the bag of beans, which Time That Erodes Young Love knows to be Druidic in origin. The bag that the beans come in can be used to launch the beans as projectile weapons, but the beans themselves can also be planted. The party decides to do so, planting one in Daggie's body. Soon, a sprout begins to emerge. It grows, very quickly, into a tree. Actually, it's a tree ent, named Trent! It has no memories of Daggie, and is immediately adopted into the party.
Gorman announces that Beller has died. RIP Beller. TTEYL wants to burn his body, to prevent him coming back to a zombie, or spawning a four-legged, mushroom-headed creature. But Gorman forbids this. He demands that Beller's body be returned to the surface, though he does agree to leave the body here for now, tied up. They'll come back for him later, once they've found an exit. Speaking of exits, the party now looks around for one. There are two doors in the room: the one they came in through barricaded up to rest here, and the secret doorway that Briar came through. They decide to take this second door, and onward they proceed.
They find the path that Briar had come down, eventually reaching the room with all the bodies in it. One dead body stands out amongst the others, the tentacled creature that tried to kill Briar. Faize takes the leather cloak that it's wearing. TTEYL recognizes this creature, and announces it to everyone as a Mind Flayer. This is Bad NewsTM. Mind Flayers are known to reproduce by implanting their Hatchling offspring into living hosts, who are killed when the new Mind Flayer is born. This must have been what happened to Daggie. As they try to destroy the body using a torch, they are suddenly greeted by Weck, stepping out of the shadows. He turns to Faize and says "Fancy meeting you here"...
Short[]
Daggie is killed by a four legged creature that bursts out of his stomach. Pegwing slays this creature, and then they plant one of their mystery beans in his body. It grows into a Tree Ent named Trent, whom they adopt into the party. Shaw vanishes, and Beller dies. They leave his body here, and press on, through the secret doorway Briar came from. They find the pile of bodies, including the creature that attacked Briar. Time That Erodes Young Love reveals this to be a Mind Flayer. Weck steps out and introduces himself, seeming to know Faize.
Trivia[]
- Because of Time That Erodes Young Love's low Stress stat, he is now Paranoid, which means that he doesn't trust anyone (that was already true), and he also can't accept help or healing from the allies.
- Trent is a Dagwood tree.
