I don’t care what you call our adventurers as long as you call them for dinner. Not this dinner. It is bad.

Long Story[]

Time That Erodes Young Love stands alone in a hallway, having just witnessed... a murder? I don't know. But when his friends catch up with him, he doesn't tell them about the murder, or that the murderer looked just like him. He just mentions that they got away, to witherto locations unknown. Pegwing sends Bennett (now wearing a tiny track suit) ahead to search for them, and he quickly returns, a shocked look on his face. He doesn't speak, but he does do an interpretive dance, which, somehow, communicates to Pegwing that there's a kind of dinner party going on up ahead, with two people, perhaps on a date? Weird.

Daggie mentions to Faize that he has an upset tummy, so she brews up another rag-tag potion, which he immediately downs. She also casts Guidance on him. It kind of helps? Anyway, they move on, toward the room Bennett "told" them about. Along the way, there's some general conversations. Daggie asks Time about his mask, why doesn't he ever take it off. Time acts dodgy about it, but says that it's a practice of the members of his company, the Sanguine Sundries. They wear the masks to shield their identities from the world, to avoid making enemies. Also, something about not mixing business and pleasure. Internally, Time is feeling hungry, and he has no food with him. Soon, they make it to the room.

It's a medium sized room, with a row of tables on either end. The tables are wooden, and filled of delicious foods: turkeys and mashed potatoes and the like. At the far end of the room, sit two figures, which make no reaction to the party's entrance. They continue not reacting when Daggie calls out to them. As they get closer, they notice two things: a flutter of motion nearby, and the metallic bindings holding the two figures in place. Their arms and legs are bound to the chair, and their mouths are bound shut. Faize wants to get a closer look, but as she enters, she sees between the two, a strange black box that catches her attention. It's intricately carved, with gold filigree, almost like mechanical artwork. She can't help but reach out and touch it.

As soon as her fingers brush against the box, it begins to vibrate, and change, shifting into a multi-pointed, star-like object. The rest of the party sees her do this, and see the rest of the room begin to change. The turkey and potatoes begin to rot away, maggots crawling out of it. The tables melt, and the walls darken. Faize doesn't seem... faized by this. Her attention is drawn instead to the small child stepping out from behind the chairs. This is Brogan, a 7-3/4 year old child who drowned when Faize was a young Tiefling. Faize was unjustly blamed for this death, and was run out of town. Now, somehow, Brogan stands before her, and tells her to take vengeance on his behalf. He tells her it was his parents that caused his death, and she must find them, and take revenge. She swears that she will.

For the others, though, there is no Brogan. Instead, Faize is lifted up into the air by a series of chains, that emerge from the wall and grapple her. This causes them to rush into the room, where they can now see the figure Faize is talking to. It is not a small child, but in fact, a deadly Chain Devil! It attacks them!

Faize is able to wriggle her way out of the chains, and creates a Spiritual Weapon to attack the Devil with. Time sends Eldritch Blast after Eldritch Blast at the beast, as well as his pseudo-dragon familiar Vandrian. Daggie goes Super Mega Mushroom Mode, releasing a cloud of spores that looks cool, but doesn't really do much. For the Chain Devil's turn, it whips them all a bunch with it's chains, before changing its appearance to resemble a giant Bennet. This freaks out Pegwing, who begins fluttering around the room, attempting to escape. Faize is unable to heal Pegwing, due to his freaking out, so she restores some of Daggie's HP instead. Briar goes ham on the Devil, with her Rapier of Warning, and Daggie follows suit with a quarterstaff. Then, the Chain Devil sends it's chains in Vandrian's direction.

The poor dragon is no match for the Chain Devil's Chains. It is torn in half, much to the horror of everyone other than Time. He's pissed, but not too emotionally distraught. Ultimately, though, it's Faize who is able to deal the killing blow, ending the Devil's reign of terror. The battle is over. Time approaches Faize and pretends to inspect her injuries, but is secretly collecting some of her blood. Feeling as though Time should be feeling bad, Daggie attempts to give him a hug, even though Time is insistent that Vandrian is not dead. He will be back after Time takes a rest. Nevertheless, Daggie offers Time some mushrooms, which Time only pretends to eat.

They turn their attention back to the two figures that drew them to this room in the first place. After the illusion of the room has faded, it's now clear that these are zombies, undead versions of their former selves, and there's nothing the party can do for them now. Mysteriously, there are four puncture wounds on each of their faces. This is very stressful, but they don't have to linger on it too long, because soon, a distraction arrives, in the form of a crazed Dwarf, darting out from the shadows with a dagger. He tells them to stay back, and asks if they are here to trick him, like the Devil did. Gorman recognizes this Dwarf, as Rango, one of the missing miners they were sent here to find!

Bennett tells the party about a party nearby, a dinner party! Following his lead, they do find two people sitting at a table, but they're not eating. They are chained up, trapped by a scary Devil! This Devil pretends at first, to be a character from Faize's past, a young child named Brogon who died tragically. The Devil attacks them all, and they are able to kill it, but not before it kills Vandrian. After the battle, they find that the two figures are zombies, and they also find Rango, one of the missing miners.
