J'Michael was the name given to The Last Dragon, a young (143 years old) dragon living beneath Ridgewood Keep in the small town of Rimeford. His existence was kept secret by the people who were protecting the dragon: Rimeford's ruler Sir Rex Yalos, and his husband Ashton Yalos. They saw how helpless and weak this young creature was, and so they vowed to keep him secret/safe/yadayada, until he came of age. Dragons reproduce asexually, so once that dragon reached maturity, he would be able to produce offspring, and the dragon species would be saved.
However, due to the immanent arrival of The Order in town, Yalos was forced to call upon the help of two locals, T'Chuck and R'Oarc, as well as Order defector Selene von Esper, and rich socialite Screech Echo. He tasked them with escorting J'Michael quietly out of the city, knowing that the dragon would be killed if the Order every found out about his existence.
J'Michael was about the size of a horse, and his only source of sustenance was a specially brewed ale, crafted by the Grizzly-folk of a neighboring village. Because of this, J'Michael was in a constant state of intoxication. When he was first introduced, he was unable to speak. As the series progressed, he was able to speak, though it was very slurred. He also couldn't walk in a straight line, or recite the alphabet backward. While he had wings, he was unable to fly. He could, however, glide, if the situation called for it.
J'Michael was named rather spontaneously, as a result of a long brainstorming session to come up with a name to call him.
Eventually, the party would end up joining the magical Resistance against the Empire, bringing J'Michael along with them. However, J'Michael was needed elsewhere. He was sent to help the Dark Elves with a magical mission, and separated from the party. But, there was this Old Bear that J'Michael was friends with, who was allowed to go with J'Michael, as the two had become inseparable by that point.
