Big and Beefy. Makes up in brawn what he lacks in brain. |
Emperor "Big Beau" Beauregard was the ruling leader of the north-western region of Drunkeros. Having been an adventurers in his youth, Beauregard would go on to lead an anti-magical revolution, resulting in a conflict known as "The Mage Wars". As a result of this conflict, Beauregard was placed into the position of Emperor, ruling out of the capitol city of Farhold.
During his adventuring days, he would travel alongside a party that included Anvon Whispermouse, Durian Brexleyshire, Luban Dola, and Ratma Ritmo. In one such adventure, he and the crew were sent to save the city of Still-Glenn from a dragon.
Later, another team of adventurers, T'Chuck, R'Oarc, Selene von Esper, and Screech Echo, found Emperor Beauregard disguised as a simple clown named "Bobo the Clown", working for The Big Top Traveling Circus and Magnificent Menagerie. At this time, Beau revealed that he had been under the control of Durian Brexleyshire, one of his former adventuring companions. Durian was the one actually running the empire, while Beau was merely a pawn, a face for the public to root for. In addition, Durian also seems to have made clones of Beau. These clones were actually sitting on the throne, while the real Beau was hidden away at the circus. Following this revelation, the party agreed to keep Beau safe, and travel to Farhold to stop Durian's evil plot.
Appearance and Personality[]
Extremely beefy, with large pecs and arms. Constantly took his shirt off, due to "getting too hot", and revealed the armor he wore, which was bikini armor. Had pointy ears and blonde hair.
Beau's intelligence was never the most robust of his skills. He would leave the thinking to wiser folk, and utilize his great strength when necessary. Despite this, Beau had an innate sense of morality, swearing to fight for the helpless, and use his might for good. When asked to describe his most heroic moment, Beau recounted the time when a wagon of mini-ponies wading through a river broke, and he had to go after them and fix it, while still in the water.
Despite his propped up title of Emperor, Beau had little taste for politics. He preferred to leave the actually ruling to those around him, notably Durian Brexleyshire. He was also extremely trusting in those he considered to be his friends. This occassionally got him into trouble, when those "friends" turned out to be using him for ulterior motives, notably Duian Brexleyshire.
History[]
Adventuring Days[]
As a traveling adventurer, Beau went by the name "Big Beau". Fighting alongside a team consisting of Anvon Whispermouse, Durian Brexleyshire, Luban Dola, and Ratma Ritmo, Beau served as the party's "tank". He would do a lot of damage, and could take a lot in return. He wasn't much for using magic, leaving that to the other party members.
At one point, late in their adventuring career, (about 50 years before the events of the show) Beau and the team were hired by a man named Duke Cromwell, leader of the region of Ironcross. Their mission was to slay a dragon that was terrorizing the city of Still-Glenn. Together, Beau and co. carried out their mission, killing the beast.
As Emperor Beauregard[]
Little is known about Beauregard's rise to power, and the Mage Wars which won him his seat. We know that ultimately, Durian Brexleyshire was the one behind the magical revolution. He was able to convince Beau that magic, when allowed to be used freely and unchecked, led to violence and tragedy. Durian's plan was to use Theonite, a magical metal, to monopolize and control who used magic, and for what purposes. Using this Theonite, Durian (through Beau), led an uprising against the Wizards of the White Spire. Durian's revolution was successful, resulting in the eradication of the White Spire.
Following the Mage Wars, a new Empire was established, with the charismatic Beauregard at the seat of it. The first order of business was instituting a complete ban on all magic. Only those working for the Ordinatio Theonitus, the Empire's chosen police force, were permitted to use magic, through collars made of Theonite. Another of Beau's verdicts was that the only god who was allowed to be worshiped was Reya. All other deities were outlawed.
While Beau was propped up as the Emperor in public, behind closed doors, it was Durian Brexleyshire running the show. He was the one to convince Beau that magic shouldn't be allowed to be used freely, and that he should become the Emperor. To this end, Durian told Beau that Beau wouldn't have to make any decisions. Durian would cast a spell on Beau, allowing the two to communicate at all times. That way, Durian could tell Beau what to say and do, while Beau was pretending to rule. However, upon casting the spell, Beau found his faculties completely overtaken by Durian. His memory of this time was hazy at best, but he was definitely not in any kind of control...
Exile[]
At one point, Beau's mind cleared temporarily, as he was met by another of his former adventuring party, Anvon Whispermouse. Anvon slipped Beau a potion, and hurried him away down a secret tunnel. He led Beau to Durian's lab, where a clone of Beau was being grown in a tank. Beau didn't remember what happened after that.
Some time later, a new adventuring party began traveling across the land of Drunkeros. T'Chuck, R'Oarc, Selene von Esper, and Screech Echo found themselves involved with a traveling circus named The Big Top Traveling Circus and Magnificent Menagerie. There, they met a clown who had been traveling with the circus for "a few weeks", named Bobo the clown. He was big, strong, and dumb as a snail. This would turn out to be Beauregard, disguised as a clown, and still under the effects of Durian's curse. The party lifted the curse, and learned who Bobo actually was.
Following this reveal, it became obvious that Durian would need to be stopped. The party agreed to keep Beau safe, and to travel to Farhold to put an end to Durian Brexleyshire's foul misdeeds.
Soon after this, the party acquired a copy of The Farhold Trumpeter, which boasted a troubling headline. There had been attack on "The Emperor", which appeared to be fatal. However, the day after the attack, the Emperor was seen up and about, as if nothing had happened. This attack had taken place a week or two before. This lead the party to believe that Durian had multiple clones of Beau. One of these clones had been attacked, and it had proven to be fatal. But, Durian must have grabbed another clone, and sent it out in place of the first.
Also around this time, a group of assassins snuck into the circus, with the intention of killing Beau. They were successful! But, the party arrived just in time to catch and slay the assassins. They resurrected the Emperor, and questioned the remaining assassin. Apparently, someone had hired the assassins to kill Beau, knew where he was, and that he would be guarded by the party.
For a while after that, Beauregard remained with the party, traveling with them, and helping them when needed. He remained disguised as a juggalo during this time.
Eventually, the party would go on to join the magical resistance against the Empire. At this time, it was decided that Beau needed to be kept secret, and safe. According to Ratma Ritmo, Beau wasn't going to be seen for a while. That's the last we've heard of him.
