Big Bad Bird | A Sticky Friendship |
Sure would be a shame to waste this perfectly good nest! It is just begging to be slept in so I suppose we will do that. It is probably safe since we are high up here on this cliff and we killed the big bad bird.
Story[]
Long Story[]
The party has just defeated a massive Pterodactyl, and they now find themselves standing before its nest. Inside are four giant eggs. Although, T'Chuck notices something odd about one of the eggs. That something odd is that it's not actually an egg at all. It's a crystal. A Crystal of Harmony!
The crystal is glowing, and there's an odd, rhythmic hum coming from it. The party takes it, and the other three eggs, bundling them up to keep them warm. Now, it's getting late, so they decide to take a long rest. And where else to rest, but in the bird's nest! So that's what they do.
R'Oarc takes first watch. She plays... well, not music. It's more white noise, somehow. I'm not sure how that works, but it does. Nothing of note happens, so she wakes T'Chuck up to take second watch. He hums a little tune to himself, which sounds like a vaguely non-copy-write-strike-able rendition of My Sharona. However, the later it gets, T'Chuck begins to nod off. As his tune dies down, sinister eyes begin to appear from the darkness. Fortunately, T'Chuck notices this, perks up, and continues his ballad. When he resumes singing, the eyes disappear. Spooky stuff. He continues his humming throughout his shift, whereupon he wakes Selene.
Selene, having been warned about the need to sing to keep the creatures of the night at bay, chooses to sing a little Blondie, which does the job. Every now and then, she thinks she catches a glimpse of something in the darkness, but it doesn't stick around long enough for her to get a good look at it. Eventually, her shift ends, and she wakes Screech. Now, Screech decide to do a rap song, Will Smith's Gettin' Jiggy Wit It, which isn't necessarily a problem in and of itself. The problem is that he rolls bad, so his performance is not quite at Mr. Smith's level. Because of this, early in the morning, as the others are just starting to wake up, the camp is attacked by 3 Velociraptors!
Screech attacks one of them, that he believes to be the Alpha, but misses. It turns out to just be distracting him, because another of the Raptors comes up from behind and claws at him. Ouch! R'Oarc is able to use a reaction to stop it from biting him, so that's good. Selene creates a zone of magical darkness around Screech and the two nearest Raptors, which is also good. Especially since Screech can see in it. She then zaps two Raptors with a Lightning Bolt: One inside the darkness, and another outside of it. On R'Oarc's turn, she either sees some nearby bones, or there are just some bones inside the corpse of the Pterodactyl. Either way, she casts Animate Dead to turn some of those bones into a zombie-like skeleton, whom she names something along the lines of "Parmiasan" (it's like Parmesan, but like if you were pronouncing some other weird spelling of it).
T'Chuck decides to just fucking destroy one of the Raptors, by casts Inflict Wounds on one that Selene had already zapped. It's a massive amount of damage, killing it harder than anything has been killed before, probably. Selene slaps the two remaining Raptors with a twinned Fire Bolt, and Screech ends the fight by slashing them unto death. With victory once again theirs, the party uses the Rope of Climbing to make their way back down the mountain. If it seems breezed past, that's because it is. We don't need a repeat of Episode 88, do we?
Short[]
The party takes a long rest in the nest of the Pterodactyl they killed in the last episode. The next morning, they are attacked by three Velociraptors. They aren't too much of a threat, however, and are killed easily. The party descends the mountain, using the rope of climbing.
Trivia[]
- In the last episode, Screech either got some feathers off the Pterodactyl, or was promised some by R'Oarc. Either way, the number of feathers he has is 70.
- The eggs that they took from the nest are about the size of a human head. They also have "circle-y spots" all over them, like a "muted version of a Wonder Bread package".
- The cast restates that the party is currently not traveling with anyone. This includes wards and guides, and the like.
- Penelope Whistleblow would disagree with this. She led the party from the circus up into the mountains, but hasn't been heard from since Episode 85.
- As if being attacked by three giant Velociraptors wasn't bad enough, they are also covered in bright yellow feathers.
- Remember that one episode when Bachmann was doing Trigonometry the entire time? I do. It was Episode 362. Lol
