Our Noodley Ally | Bony Horizon |
Two spiders with one rock type of solution, that is what we are all about. Or maybe it is killing two quests with one spider..? Unsure, but, that is what makes us the greatest, our ability to multitask even when that task is still a singular task. I think I am have too much spider venom in my blood and I need a cleric.
Story[]
Long Story[]
Having successfully defeated the Brain Collector and collected its brain, the party begins their trek back to The Abbott. Along the way, they notice some pretty sizable spiderwebs, that seem tougher and thicker than what a tiny little arachnid would produce. These must have been formed by... The Drider!
Well, they're about halfway back to The Cloisters, but they also know that they need to hunt down and kill this Drider. So, what should they do? Selene wants to go after the Drider now, while T'Chuck wants to return back to The Abbott with neither dilly nor dally. R'Oarc wants to go to the Boneyards. Ultimately, they decide to turn their attention to the Drider, since, you know. They're already out here. Might as friggin well, right?
He's not hard to find, either. They begin tracking him, and find him on the ceiling above them! Man, have you ever just noticed a spider on the ceiling, right above your head. It's a frighting sight. You're like, all nervous to move, because it might fall on you. And then what? You have to squish it, or something, and try not to frighten it enough to scamper away, or, again, fall on you. Not a good time. And this is way worse because it's a giant beast that's half a dude! Wait, maybe that makes it better. Not sure.
Well, time to fight. R'Oarc is, finally, able to use Heat Metal to, well, heat the metal of the Drider's armor! It's a very cathartic moment for long-time fans of the podcast. Ultimately, it's R'Oarc who's able to deal the killing blow, using her rapier as it was intended for. The party sees the Drider's equipment laying nearby, namely a longsword and a longbow. However, they are reluctant to take it, as they aren't really accustomed to pilfering their fallen foe's goods. They do take them, however, as well as the still warm chain mail he was wearing. T'Chuck uses the creature's own longsword to behead him, and the head, too, goes in the party's inventory. He also makes a meal out of the Drider's legs, and I mean that literally. The party takes a short rest as they feast on Drider Leg Stew.
Short[]
On the way back to the Abbott, the group runs across the Drider. They fight and kill it, salvaging its weapons, chain mail, and leg meat. They also chop its head off to bring back to Ratma Ritmo.
Trivia[]
- Day 17 of the campaign.
- In this episode, T'Chuck flirts with Milton Graves. That's just where we are now.
- I keep thinking that Milton Graves is so much older than T'Chuck, but there's only a 4 year age difference between them, so it's not that weird, actually.
