Sometime today the OT folks will show up and that will be the real test of whether or not we will be safe to leave Rimeford. Selene doesn’t seem to notice anything afoot so that is a good sign. We will take all the good signs we can get and hold on to them for dear life.
Story[]
Long Story[]
Following the events of last week's bonus episode, Selene has died. Maybe. She wakes up now, to find R'Oarc standing over her. She had cast Animate Dead on Selene's body, but Selene may have woken up on her own before she did. It's unclear. Regardless, it's the day after Selene, R'Oarc, and the rest defeated the Hook Horrors in the mines. Apparently last night, after defeating said Hook Horrors, the party returned back home and had more than a few drinks. Sounds fun.
The two descend into the dining area of The Goblin Pit, and order breakfast from the chef, Dred Flintbeard. They also meet up with T'Chuck and Screech, and, surprising everyone with his existence, Kyle Oakenbacher, aka "Skin Kyle", aka "Skinz". He's, um, around. Not really doin' much. He's just kind of all like, "hey, what's up? Remember me?" He does bring up the option of removing Selene's collar, though. She's not quite ready for that.
Yes, but what about the OT? They're going to be here tomorrow, so the party needs to be ready. Selene suggests that Kyle go and hide out in the basement of the Temple, which he agrees to, semi-reluctantly. Reluctantly because he wants to fight the OT when they get her, but semi because he's pretty nervous about fighting them. So, to the basement he goes. The party is also met by the foul-mouthed Little Petey, who delivers a package to Screech from Lucee. Inside are the special goggles that Lucee had promised Screech: Darkvision goggles! He can now see in the dark!
The party is ALSO also met by Ratma Ritmo, who asks them if they've heard about the death of Wally Bonebraids. Now, in my estimation, they haven't. R'Oarc definitely has, since she's the one who killed him, but I don't think she ever told the others about that. In any event, there's going to be a funeral for him tomorrow, but Ratma's not sure anyone's going to show up. He wasn't a very popular guy. Another thing Ratma's sure about is that the OT is going to be here, not tomorrow, but today! But like, later today. But still today! She also gives them the 45 gold from Granona Flintbeard, their reward for clearing out the mines.
There's a general discussion kind of thing that happens. T'Chuck lets Ratma in on the fact that he and R'Oarc are thinking about leaving town after the Order is dealt with. They also bring up Screech's recent alligator bite situation. The dude's not looking so good, Mr. Stark. His bite wound is hurting him. He's looking a little green around the gills. He has gills! No, not really. Alligators don't have gills. But he does have a strange desire to lay out on the rocks and eat birds. Ratma suggests offing the rich man, but T'Chuck talks her down. He volunteers to do the deed himself, if Screech goes bad. But first, maybe he could be cured.
T'Chuck lures Screech away with a big ol' bowl of raw meat, and brings him to the temple. Previously, T'Chuck had left an offering of a potted plant at the alter of Regnier, a plant which is still here. Now, he takes a leaf from it, crushes it up, and uses it as a component in a Lesser Restoration spell. And it works! Screech is cured of his... Crocanthopy? Alliganthropy? Well, guess it doesn't matter now. Screech does throw up, though.
Kyle appears from the basement, curious about what's up. They all become curious, though, when they suddenly hear the far-off rumblings of a caravan approaching. They send Kyle back down to the basement, and together, everyone (except Kyle) runs outside, and watches as a dust cloud slowly grows larger and larger. This is the Order, arriving at last.
Selene nervously paces back and forth in front of The Goblin Pit. R'Oarc tries (and fails) to give Selene a pep-talk, and hands her a sausage roll filled with Ratma's toenails, suggesting she feed it to the Order to get out of a sticky situation. Weird. Anyway, 30 wagons make their way into town! Some of them are empty, to be filled with the Theonite they are here to collect. A few are filled with general goods. But some are passenger wagons. And out of one of them step two ominous, imposing looking OT members. They're tall and scary. I guess that's kind of what imposing means, so... a little redundant there. It's fine! They begin to slowly approach Selene...
But are interrupted by an older man, tall and lanky. He darts out between the two OT members, and speaks to Screech. "Master Echo, I have grave news for you!", says the butler Milton Graves.
Short[]
Everyone discusses what to do about the Order arriving today. Skin Kyle agrees to hide out in the basement of the temple while the Order is here. T'Chuck is able to heal Screech's crocodile lycanthropy, and Screech also gets the Darkvision goggles from Lucee. Finally, the OT members arrive, along with Screech's butler, Milton Graves, who has some news for Screech...
