The Ward Various Villains

Our heroes maybe drink a little too much and pay the price with a head ache the next morning. Surely nothing odd or strange or whimsical will happen making their already sad state much, much worse.

Story[]

Long Story[]

At Rex Yalos's estate, the party discusses their next moves over desert. They are hiding the Last Dragon in the tunnels below the Keep. The tunnels are connected to the mines, which aren't producing enough Theonite. This is due to various wild creatures down there, namely a family of Hook Horrors that Selene and Screech encountered, but didn't kill. Because of this, the Order is going to show up in a few days, and will likely be venturing down into the tunnels to clear out the monsters. If they do that, they're bound to find the dragon, even though it's well hidden. So, there's really only one thing to do: They need to go back down into the tunnels and kill the Hook Horrors that are down there.

T'Chuck suggests that he and R'Oarc hang back, since they took care of things when they were down there, while Screech and Selene didn't. This is a little unfair, as T'Chuck and R'Oarc also had the help of Lucee and Dahlia. Also, Screech can't see in the dark. Rex offers to send some guards down to do it, though warns that Captain Clint will probably be hurt if he goes, since he's getting a little stiff in his age. So, it'll have to be the party. Rex also wants to go arrest Lucee, seeing as how they're able to control ants, and can create various "magical" contraptions without permits or anything like that. The party is able to convince him that Lucee is not a threat and to leave Brittany alone. I mean, Lucee. Leave Lucee alone. Sorry, I don't know where that came from.

With all of that business taken care of, everyone heads off to back their homes to sleep. Last episode, they returned to Rimeford in the early morning, and went to bed. They were woken "in the morning" (we're assuming the same morning, just a few hours later), and asked to meet up with Rex "later that day", which R'Oarc took to mean right now. She had woken T'Chuck, and they went to Rex's right away, so that seemed like it was, maybe, around mid-day. And then they ate, and now they're leaving to go back to bed? It must like, 2 in the afternoon! It could have been a long lunch. I don't know.

On the way back, they stop at the river and collect some pebbles, since today is "Pebble Day" back in the Grizzly-folk village. Afterwards, T'Chuck invites Screech to a nightcap at The Goblin Pit, which he accepts, despite not having any money on him that the Goblin Pit accepts. He wonders how he can get word back to Milton Graves to send him some actual gold, instead of just dollar bills. Everyone heads to the Goblin Pit to unwind.

T'Chuck tries his damnedest to get the Grizzly-folk's mead to a drinkable state, by combining it with other flavors and drinks. He's able to make it so that it doesn't knock anyone out by adding lemonade and a ginger syrup extract. It's still not delicious, though. Gertie enters and pulls Screech away to talk to him. She's come up with a solution to her secret identity problem. She was struggling between a horse and a ferret, and has finally decided to become... a "Horret"! It's a combination of a horse and a ferret. Screech doesn't like that idea. He tells her to keep working on it. He returns to the group as T'Chuck pressures Selene into arm wrestling. T'Chuck wins.

They all play a drinking game. Screech says that his belly hurts, so he heads off to bed. Immediately, Beholder-doodle appears! The night's still young, baby!!! He joins the drinking game. Everyone does shots, and R'Oarc passes out! Everyone does shots again, and Selene passes out! Everyone does shots again, and Beholder-doodle passes out! T'Chuck is the last man standing, so he gathers all his friends and brings them back to his place for the night. As he wanders off to sleep out in the barn, R'Oarc wakes up. She waits for T'Chuck to leave, and then sneaks out of the house (grabbing a few more sausage rolls first, of course).

She sneaks across the city, over to the White Spire, where Lucee lives. She's able to get Lucee's attention by throwing some pebbles at the window, and singing, so Lucee invites her in. R'Oarc warns Lucee that Rex Yalos knows about Lucee, and says that he's coming to arrest them! Despite this not actually being true. They had been able to convince Yalos NOT to arrest Lucee, but maybe R'Oarc just being cautious. Together, they decide to move Lucee out of the White Spire and into an empty crypt in the graveyard. Lucee asks R'Oarc to come back tomorrow at midnight to help move all of their stuff over, and maybe fight off any monsters that they might find. They need to take some time getting everything ready.

R'Oarc sneaks back home and falls asleep. The next morning (Day 13 of the campaign?), they are all awoken by the sounds of bells, marking the arrival of some new visitor to Rimeford. The townspeople all gather around the square, and watch the new arrival. It's too soon for the OT to be here. And it's not the OT. It's a small wagon, colorful, and covered in vibrant decorations. There's music coming from the wagon, and some large animals traveling alongside it. And it gets stranger than that. The wagon comes to a stop in the center of the town square. Out steps a tall, balding man, wearing a fancy suit. He introduces himself as Luthor. And this is his circus!

Short[]

Rex asks the party to clear out the Hook Horrors in the tunnels beneath the city. That way, when the Order shows up in a few days, they won't have any reason to go down there, so there will be less of a chance of them finding the dragon. Everyone gets drunk and goes to sleep, but R'Oarc sneaks out to tell Lucee that they need to move from the White Spire to a crypt in the graveyard. She thinks that Rex is after Lucee, even though he isn't. Lucee asks her to come back tomorrow night. The next day, a circus rolls into town, led by a man named "Luthor".

Trivia[]

  • Day 12? 13? of the campaign.
    • Michael calls it Day 12 of the campaign. I'm pretty sure it's Day 13, based on my very studious note-taking. But I'm not the DM
      • Although it should be noted that Day 5 became Day 6 (see Episode 17), so they've been forward a day ever since. So, by that logic, it IS Day 12. However, if this is the correct numbering of days, then the episode titled "Seventh Day" was actually the sixth day lol
  • T'Chuck is eating mint chocolate chip ice cream. This accidentally also invents Freon.
  • In the next town over, there's a place called "Dave & Busters", which has games and things for kids to play. There's also a Chuck E. Cheese.
  • Screech, like Bachmann, has ADHD.
  • Screech carries dollars around with him, which isn't real currency. He doesn't carry any gold with him. As a result, he has no actual money to spend on anything, despite being very rich.
  • Screech wants to use his components he got before to make a power wheels-sized steam horse for Gertie, despite the fact that he already used those to make an actual Red Rocket for his Beholder-doodle costume, which was cursed.
  • R'Oarc sings a song to T'Chuck every morning before he wakes up, but he doesn't know about it.
  • Lucee mentions having a friend named "Bailey", who's dead. The OT killed her.
  • T'Chuck has a goat named "Beans".
