The deeper we go into the mine the stranger things become. No one knows what we will find down there but all anyone can do is push on when folks are counting on you. Hope the knockers aren’t super strong…or gross. Would make this whole thing more pleasant.
Story[]
Long Story[]
The Carrion Crawler that was killed recently lies before the party. T'Chuck beheads the beast, and stashes it in his sack for later. They make note of the strange creature that the crawler was feasting upon, and then they continue on through the mines. Soon, they notice a small creature dart into a small hole in the wall. It's just big enough for the party to fit through (T'Chuck might have to squeeze in reeeeeally tight), but they don't want to go in there just yet. Instead, a loooooong time is spent brainstorming how to coax this creature out, and then communicate with it. In the end, R'Oarc is able to use one of her sausage rolls to lure it out. And out it comes.
The creature looks to be the same type as the one that was being eaten by the Carrion Crawler, but obviously, more alive. Less eaten. It has a potato-like face, wears raggedy scrap clothing that resembles a miner's uniform. It can't speak common, so the party has to make exaggerated miming motions to communicate with it. Doing so, they indicate that they were the ones to kill the Carrion Crawler, and ask it where it lives. That's when it decides to bring the party back with it. The creature (whom the party names "Little Petey 2", after everyone's favorite Little Petey) motions for them to follow, and darts back into his hole.
T'Chuck is large, and has a hard time fitting through, but he does so. Selene follows close behind, and then the worst thing to ever happen in the show happens here. I'm not even going to describe it. It doesn't deserve the key presses. Anyway, they are eventually able to stand up, and they go on. Soon, they come up on a few more of these things (which are assumed to be the Knockers everyone's been talking about). The Knockers are dancing around a fire, roasting mushrooms, but upon the party's arrival, they scatter. The party has to, again, mime at them that they are friendly, and the Knockers slowly return.
One of them, the leader (named Big Petey), can speak Common! So they are able to communicate that way. Speaking with the Knockers, they learn that the structural integrity of the tunnels are failing. A collapse is immanent, but it wasn't the Carrion Crawler causing the problems. Big Petey offers to show them the problem, but only on the condition that they help with another issue. They have all this Theonite laying around that they simply must be rid of!
This is great news. The group groups up to discuss this. If they can bring a bunch of Theonite back with them, that might solve a lot of their problems. It would show that the mines are still viable, so the Ordinatio Theonitus would stop peeking around to make sure it's producing. And that piece-of-shit Screech will leave! It's perfect! Lucee pipes in, too, requesting taking some of that Theonite for themselves. That settled, the gang returns to Big Petey, and agrees to take the Theonite off their hands. And so, Big Petey agrees to show them the problem with the mines...
Short[]
The party meets a Knocker they name Little Petey 2, who brings them back to the rest of the Knockers. The leader is named Big Petey, who tells them that the mines are in danger of collapsing, and gives them all a large supply of Theonite to take back with them.
