Unexpected Victories Mushroom Party

Seems like things are getting stranger and stranger so our heroes head into the mine to see if the knockers are related to all this madness. Wish us luck!

Story[]

Long Story[]

Lucee joins the party! Well, not in that way. They just show up at the mines and go in with them. As the party enters the mines, they are immediately met with the sound of what they can only assume to be Knockers. R'Oarc believes the Knockers are not a threat, just little tricksters. But T'Chuck believes that they are really dangerous, and warns everyone to be cautious. Also, Little Petey is there for some reason. Selene puts the boy to work, carrying her spell component pouch, and Screech, in search of a ward, makes note of him. Screech is, by the way, in Drop Bear mode, having changed as night fell. T'Chuck raises objections to a small child following them into this dangerous area, so they are forced to send Small Petey away, much to everyone's chagrin. R'Oarc send him on a mission to arrange her band posters.

Now five, the party begins to descend into the mine tunnels, in this order: T'Chuck, R'Oarc, Selene, and finally, Screech/Drop Bear. Where's Lucee? You tell me. As they continue through the mines, they see fewer and fewer signs of life, and more and more signs of a nasty smell, like something rotting. And there's a sound two, something cracking and chewing. All in all, it's quite, how the French say, "gross". All of these sounds, by the way, are coming from around a nearby corner, so T'Chuck goes to sneak on ahead to peer around. Then, R'Oarc points out that he's bad at stealth so she pulls him back and does it herself. She's stealthy enough and is able to see a truly horrific sight. A massive centipede-like creature, chowing down a poor helpless corpse. The creature is long (about 15-50 ft), with many legs, and has tentacles coming out of its face. It also has a large, toothy mouth, which it's using to crunch down on the cadaver. This, is, how the Spanish say, "very gross". Lucee says that this isn't one of their own creatures, and so the party decides to do the only thing that makes sense: Kill the fuck out of this horrid thing.

Drop Bear runs up onto it and attacks. He remains on it when it scurries partly up the wall, but Selene is able to wrench to down to the ground again. T'Chuck attempts to do a super bad-ass spell called Toll the Dead, but only manages to do a single point of damage lol. The creature (called a Carrion Crawler) does many bites between T'Chuck and Drop Bear, but nothing too bad. Drop Bear actually manages to stay alive during this fight! After a few fire-y bolts from Selene, the creature is looking quite weak, and R'Oarc is able to deal the killing blow, in quite the awesome manor.

T'Chuck removes the beast's head and takes it with him for some reason, and then turns to inspect the body it was eating. The corpse appears to have been dead a while, so it wasn't necessarily killed by the Carrion Crawler. It's short, maybe 1 1/2 ft tall, and ugly, with a "potato face". And it's wearing a miner's outfit.

But with nothing else to do here, the party continues, deeper into the mines...

Short[]

The party begins searching the mines. Little Petey comes with them, but is quickly sent away. They encounter and kill a Carrion Crawler, which was in the process of eating the already dead corpse of what might be a Knocker. And then they descend deeper into the mines...

Trivia[]

  • Day 8 of the campaign.
  • Little Petey doesn't have a level, because he's a child. He's Level 0.
  • The Carrion Crawler has 8 tentacles
