We continue our rescue mission to save the remaining OT from the bug hole. Things go from bad to worse pretty quickly. This all better be worth it… if we end up going to jail after all this...

Story[]

Long Story[]

Deep in the tunnels beneath Rimeford, four adventurers stand in front of a door. On the other side of the door, sounds of a scuffle are fading away. Before going through the door, T'Chuck decides to heal Screech (Drop Bear) using magic, something neither Screech nor Selene are too keen on. Although, Screech does seem to notice for the first time that magic can be used to help, rather than to hurt. Selene realizes nothing, deliberately distracting herself both from both the magic being used, and from her personal responsibilities as a member of the OT. Anyway, the party now decides to go through the door, so T'Chuck goes to town on the door, throwing hammers and himself at it, until he crashes through. Screech realizes that they never just tried to open the door, but oh well.

On the other side of the door is a small cramped bedroom. In the corner, lies a headless skeleton, but they don't have to look too long for its head. They find it floating in front of a door to their right. And the skeleton eyes are on fire. Which is Pretty Freakin' Bad-ass, if you ask me. That's right, it's a PFB situation. The skull attacks everyone in the room: T'Chuck, Selene, and Screech. R'Oarc didn't enter this room, as she was too busy investigating the previous room. She finds a cabinet with a red cross on it, and inside are 8 mysterious vials. She decides to test these out by immediately drinking one. Fortunately, it doesn't kill her. They are, in fact, Potions of Greater Healing!

The fight with the skull begins. Selene blasts it with frosty rays, but it appears to be unaffected. Screech sneaks closer and throws some of his throwing weapons at it. No, they're not Batarangs! They are small, metallic eucalyptus leaves! That will be good to keep away spiders! Anyway, the skull gets angry and blasts everyone in the room with fire, which knocks out Screech and T'Chuck. Selene manages to remain conscious, so she summons Maximilian's Earthen Grasp to grapple the creature. R'Oarc (in a real Lahni maneuver) runs into the room, and feeds a potion to T'Chuck, bringing him back to consciousness. She then peaces back out of the room. The newly awakened T'Chuck creates a Spiritual Weapon, and together with Selene's hand, the two proxy battlers are able to crush the skull, and destroy it!

R'Oarc uses another of her new potions on Screech, so everyone's fine again. T'Chuck calls out to any other OT members that may be up ahead, but there's no answer. The only thing they can hear are the sounds of battle coming from beyond the door in front of them. Instead of busting down the door immediately, like last time, they decide to peer through the keyhole. Inside the room (which appears to be a Wizard's alchemical lab), the party is shocked to see the last OT member, Kyle Oakenbacher, locked in battle with what appears to be a giant metal snake!

T'Chuck breaks through a door that they never tried opening, and finds himself face to face with a skull with flaming eyes! It attacks them, and almost kills T'Chuck and Screech. R'Oarc finds some potions, and uses them to heal her two fallen friends. T'Chuck and Selene finish the skull off, and then they look on through the next door. They find the last OT member, Kyle Oakenbacher, fighting a giant metal snake.

Trivia[]

  • Day 7 of the campaign.
  • Screech is shocked to find that magic can be used to heal people. This actually makes sense, I think, because Screech has only been healed with magic 3 times before this, and all of those times were to resurrect him back to consciousness. So, he wouldn't have known that magic was being used to heal him.
    • Granted, one of those times was by Beary, who was very insistent that he used magic. Oh well, that was a tense time.
