The... Rescue? An Explosive Rescue

Into the hole, what is the worst thing that could happen? Our plan to make the OT fight the bugs is sort of working but also who knows what the best outcome here even is. We are just grasping at any plan that offers a little bit of hope at this point.

Story[]

Long Story[]

The party stands before a large pit in the ground, into which the carriage containing the Adepts has just fallen. They decide to head down and follow them, but from a safe distance. Lucee appears and asks how they intend to make it down the 30 foot drop uninjured. Fortunately, Screech (as Drop Bear) is here, and he has a grappling hook, which can be used to lower people down. After telling Lucee to scoot, the group begins their descent. Selene, as punishment, is made to go first, riding in a basket. Since she makes it down okay, the others follow, and soon, they begin looking around.

The pit opens up into a tunnel, via a hole in the side of the pit. They also see the charred corpse of a beetle, as well a human leg, the debris of the battle recently fought down here. The carriage is also still down here, and Selene looks through it. She finds a satchel belonging to her former coworkers, and inside, is a warrant for her arrest! But it isn't signed, which means they maybe weren't intending on using it, unless they felt they needed to. So maybe, if Selene didn't come willingly, they would bust it out. This is good, it means she isn't technically a wanted fugitive. Not yet anyway. She also finds a bag of 50 gold pieces, which she takes for herself. She then burns down the carriage, and the warrant.

Anyway, time to continue on. After doing some healing, they send the rogue on ahead, to be sneaky. As they make their way down the tunnel, the rough and natural rock walls meet up with another tunnel, this one much more artificial. Whereas they were going through the hole formed by the bugs and sinkhole, this tunnel appears to be man-made, intentional. T'Chuck is familiar with the architecture, having seen it during his time in the Mage Wars. It's Wizard architecture. He warns Drop Bear to check for traps, but he finds none. T'Chuck, however, does Detect Magic coming from up ahead, further down the tunnel, and Selene can hear the faint sounds of a tussle happening further ahead as well.

They move on, cautiously. This is good, because there were, in fact, traps to be wary of. How do we know this? Well, there's a dead body on the ground, who died from one of these traps. Sucks for that guy. It was Corey Blue, one the Adepts sent to bring in Selene. T'Chuck, out of respect, wraps the body up in his robe, and carries it with him.

Continuing on, the party eventually comes up on a jar that's adoor. Oh no, sorry. It's actually a door that ajar. Inside, they can see a sack of grain, but that's about it, so they decide to head on in. That turns out to be a bad idea because clinging to the ceiling above them is a creature known as Black Pudding! It attacks.

Screech begins the fight by slashing at the thing with his claws, twice. This does nothing to harm the creature, but does cause it to divide into two smaller creatures, and one of those is divided as well. This is getting out of hand. Now there are three of them! With the knowledge that slashing is ineffectual against this beast, R'Oarc stabs at it, which does NOT divide the thing. Instead, it does damage, which is good. Angered, the Black Pudding punches at them, and is able to knock Screech unconscious. This can't be good for him, to be knocked out so frequently in such a short time span, can it? Anyway, T'Chuck is able to heal him back to consciousness, but the Black Pudding makes up for it by knocking T'Chuck out, too. Great. After trading blows back and forth, Selene is able to take out one of the Puddings, and Screech the other two, leaving them the victors.

After the battle (and after R'Oarc heals her father T'Chuck), they all notice a door on the other side of the room. And through that door is a voice, which mentions a skeleton with flaming eyes. Bad-ass!

Short[]

The party descends into the pit and finds a warrant for Selene's arrest, un-stamped. They burn the carriage down, and head into the tunnel, where they find the dead body of Corey Blue! The tunnel turns into a Wizard made tunnel, which seems to have traps in it, hence Corey Blue. They also enter a storage room, which is full of tasty and delicious food. Such as grain, and pudding. Black pudding. The creature Black Pudding. Which attacks them. It knocks out Screech, but T'Chuck is able to heal him awake again. It knocks out T'Chuck, but R'Oarc is able to heal him awake again. Screech and Selene then kill the creature. On the other side of a door in the room, they hear a voice talking about a skeleton with flaming eyes.
