Hole Missing in Action

The gang arrives at the OT checkpoint and I think we can all agree they do well under pressure, generally speaking. Hopefully the rest of the circus act cool so that we can lay low and remain chill without alerting the OT.

Story[]

Long Story[]

Chaos at the Carnival! R'Oarc has just been captured by an OT soldier! Selene was able to dart out of the way, so she now runs to T'Chuck, and tells him everything. She can't go talk to the OT mages herself, because they might recognize her. Especially Gretta Buckleby, a former classmate of Selene's. T'Chuck goes into Dad mode, approaching the mages and asking what's the meaning of this. He shakes the mage's hand, asking for his name, and we learn that it's something like "Thorald Banes". R'Oarc is being send to the "land brig" (no one can think of the name for an old-timey jail), because she threw a pie in the face of one of the OT members. But, come on! Is that really that big of a deal? The guy does admit that it was pretty funny. Banes agrees not to lock R'Oarc up, instead, deciding to make a public example out of her. He's going to use Bigby's Forceful Slap to give her a spanking, in front of everyone. The humiliation will be enough to keep everyone else in line. T'Chuck doesn't see this as that big of a deal, and maybe the discipline will even do R'Oarc some good. So, he allows this. The slap will happen after their inspection, in case there are any other ne'er-do-wells about.

Meanwhile, Screech has been out in the woods. He has the Portable Hole with him, and inside is Big Bo (who's actually Emperor Beauregard), as well as J'Michael (who's actually the last dragon in the world). Also, there's a bear in there, that they just kind of tossed in. As Screech is sneaking through the woods, he hears a familiar sound. The sound of Dick! That is, Dick Goodie, who sounds worried. He finds him, stressing out in the woods, alone. Screech asks him wassup, and Dick answers that he saw The Oriole stash a magical dagger in one of the caravan's wagons. If the OT finds it, that could be bad for him. Screech reminds him that, since he and The Oriole are TOTALLY NOT THE SAME PERSON, Dick shouldn't worry about it. There's some back-and-forth, and eventually, Dick admits to being The Oriole. Ha! I knew it!

Screech, not to be out-revealed, puts on his Beholder-doodle mask. He's been wearing his costume, mask-less, this whole time, so this just completes the look. Together, the two vigilantes bond over their love of justice, and also knowing about the pincer move. Maybe one day, they can use the pincer move during an attack against their enemies. And maybe, juuuust maybe... that day is today. Without consulting the rest of the party, Screech and Dick decide to swing in and launch an attack against the OT. But first, they'll need Dick's dagger. It's back at the orphan wagon, so the two sneak back to the caravan. Dick reveals that, beneath the orphan wagan, there's a secret compartment, where he keeps his vigilante stuff. He dons his costume, and makes Screech promise not to tell anyone. With that, they are ready.

The two sneak around to either side of the crowd gathering outside of the clown wagon. There are 10 OT members in total: 5 soldiers, 3 archers, and 2 mages, who appear to be leading the group. One is Thorald Banes, and the other is Greta Buckleby. Banes and R'Oarc are standing atop the clown wagon, with two of the soldiers on either side of them. The rest of the OT are down below, amidst a crowd of clowns gathered around to watch. R'Oarc appears to be worried and upset, though in reality, she's just playing it up. She's hoping the clowns will rise up and revolt once she is spanked. Banes summons a large magical hand, which winds up. The spank is coming...

That's when a magical rope comes shooting out from the forest! It wraps itself around R'Oarc and yanks her out of spank's way. No one can tell where the rope came from (though we know it to be Screech). So, maybe they can still salvage this somehow? Oh, nope. There goes The Oriole, who swings into battle, stabbing Banes repeatedly with his daggers. Well, the cat's out of the bag, now. Screech leaps out onto the clown wagon as well. He stands up before the clowns, and gives an impassionate speech to them. The OT have come to take away their right to honk! They must needs rise up in rebellion against the OT! Pies begin flying. It works! The clowns are revolting!

There is a brief, chaotic battle. The Oriole ends up killing Banes by stabbing him through the heart. Meanwhile, on the ground, Selene casts Darkness on Greta Buckleby. Buckleby attempts to Mage Step out of it, but since it's cast on her, it jumps along with it. The archers are unleashing arrows on the party, so The Oriole turns his stabbing attention on them. The soldiers, on the other hand, are very frightened by all the magic going on. T'Chuck is able to use this to their advantage, by getting them to surrender. Finally, Selene casts Raulothim's Psychic Lance on Greta Buckleby, spearing her through the forehead. She dies. The Darkness gets dispelled. And, with no more mages to guide them, the OT archers surrender.

Short[]

R'Oarc is going to be spanked for her pie-throwing insolence. Dick Goodie and Screech Echo reveal their secret identities to each other, and decide to attack the OT before R'Oarc can be punished. There's a short but chaotic battle, in which Thorald Banes and Greta Buckleby are killed. The rest of the OT soldiers and archers surrender.

Trivia[]

  • There's a thing where Screech is wearing, like, a magician's outfit. I don't remember how or why this started, but there you go.
  • Screech has killed "so many people", but they were all bad guys.
  • Dick Goodie is somewhere around 8 to 10 to 12 years old. It's hard to tell, because he's so small for his age.
  • Selene has been on the receiving end of the OT's spankings before. There was this one time, where she took the blame for something that someone else did, and as a result, had to be slapped.
  • The spank causes a level of exhaustion.
